While perusing my usual line-up of bookmarked art, design, architecture, and fashion blogs, I was delighted to come across an article (on www.selectism.com) about the new Ace Hotel in New York! Designed as a marriage between functionality, simplicity, and “new heritage” design ideals, the Ace Hotel offers both affordability and luxury within its friendly and nostalgia-inducing “old architecture,” iconic and historically New York styled walls.  I’m terribly terribly impressed by their unbelievable choice of uniforms for their staff (pictured above).  Check out the Ace Hotel Website to check it out for yourself or to see about one of their other locations in: Portland, Seattle, or Palm Springs, or just to oogle their lovely design.

On a similar note, my friend Shanna over at www.shannadipaolo.tumblr.com threw a NY Times article my way that excited me and resonated deeply with my love for modern or “new” heritage. Check it out here: The New Antiquarians
